Founded in 1982 M&WIPM/UHORC was incorporated on June 29, 1992 and obtained 501(c) (3) not-for-profit status on July 23, 1999.  Oversight and governance of the organization is provided by an eight member Board of Directors and several volunteer members, who are both professionals and clients.  The primary goal of the organization has always been to increase awareness of HIV/AIDS and provided support to incarcerated populations, their families and the community at large.  M&WIPM/UHORC has a respected presence in the communities it serves, a respect that has been earned by providing self-help and outreach services effectively and consistently.
